EPGP is a modern version of the DKP loot system. It is a simple and efficient method of distributing loot based upon both a raider's contribution as well as the gear they have recently received. Silent Resurgence uses EPGP for all main raid loot. A current snapshot of SR's EPGP can be found to the left and useful links to more information and required addons follow the explination below.
EPGP consists of three numbers; EP, GP, and PR.
EP is "Effort Points". They represent how much effort a raider has contributed to the raid.
GP is "Gear Points". They represent the loot that a raider has received.
PR is "Priority". This represents the ratio of your Effort Points to your Gear Points. The higher your GP, the lower your PR will be. The higher your EP, the higher your PR will be.
Your EP and GP change based on what you do. Your PR is always calculated based on your EP and GP.
EP is given to raiders when
they contribute to the raid. Being present in the raid, showing up on time, defeating progression bosses, etc. For example, Silent Resurgence rewards
raiders a 1 EP on time bonus, 2 EP for every 30 minutes you are in the raid, and typically 5 EP for defeating a progression boss. EP bonuses are awarded at
the discretion of the raid leader or officers. EP may also be deducted as a penalty or deterrent to repeatedly making stupid mistakes. Therefore, a raid
in which you show up on time, raid for 4 hours, and defeat one new boss would earn you 22 EP (1 EP on time, 8x 2 EP per 30 minutes, 5 EP for boss kill).
GP is given to raiders when they recieve loot. Your total GP represents the amount and quality of gear you have received recently. Gear has pre-set GP costs
based upon its item level, slot, quality, etc. The EPGP lootmaster addon will tell you the GP value of any item in its tooltip. The more gear you receive
the higher your GP will grow. A minimum GP of 600 is used in order to prevent new raiders from having inflated PR. Your GP starts at 600 and can never go below it.
In order to prevent both of these values from growing indefinitely the concept of Decay was introduced. Both your EP and GP will decay by the same percentage
each week. This will not change your PR as both numbers decay equally. Silent Resurgence currently uses a 3% decay.
Loot is distributed based solely upon PR. When an item drops all raiders who would like it indicate that they would and "roll" on the item.
The item is then distributed to the person with the highest PR who rolled and the GP for the item is added to their GP total. There are several different
types of rolls. In order of priority they are "Need / Full Upgrade", "Need / Minor Upgrade", and "Greed / Off-spec". The item will go to a higher priority
roller over a lower priority roller regarless of their current PR. The different roll types also carry different costs. A Full Upgrade costs full GP. A
Minor Upgrade costs half GP and Off-spec rolls cost no GP.
Silent Resurgence requires a minimum EP of 300 in order to roll on an item. If there are no rolls on an item by members with more than 300 EP the item will
still go to the roller with the highest PR as normal. However, priority will always be given to members with over 300 EP.
